Fashion | Diane Von Furstenberg Implements NEW Models Treatment

Well with London Fashion Week around the corner, numerous exciting emerging designers and new models on the verge of stardom, a change to their treament it seems will hopefully improve a models stature.

Diane Von Furstenberg has issued new guide lines on the treatment of models at Fashion Week. The guide lines were created on behalf of the CFDA

(of which she is president) and amongst other rules state that healthy meals and snacks should be provided for models backstage at shows and that no designer should hire models under the age of 16

More Guidelines..

  • Develop workshops for the industry (including models and their families), on the nature of eating disorders, how they arise, how we identify and treat them, and complications if they are untreated.
  • Support the well-being of younger individuals by not hiring models under the age of sixteen for runway shows; not allowing models under the age of eighteen to work past midnight at fittings or shoots; and providing regular breaks and rest.
  • Supply healthy meals, snacks, and water backstage and at shoots and provide nutrition and fitness education.
